Jesus in Mat 5:41 said “And whosoever shall compel thee to go one mile, go with him two.”
The second mile is a road Jesus has called us to walk, and this is where you’ll find Him doing His work. It’s beyond what those around us have a right to expect from us. The second mile is our response to the love of Christ, that which compels us, that which drives us to reach out to those in need. The religious leaders and priest went on the first mile on the road to Jericho, when they saw the man dying along the road side and did nothing about it. They didn’t know him, so they didn’t want to help. They were too busy.  On the other hand the Good Samaritan went the second mile by taking care of the wounded man. (Luke 10:30-35) The ‘second mile attitude’ says “What is mine is God’s” and that’s the place where God wants us to be. The place where we have the attitude of the Samaritan, saying, what is mine is not mine but it belongs to God.

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."
Gal 6:9,10

Once we have that attitude we will never limit ourselves to serve God, we will never withhold our time, our service, our talents and our resources for the extension of God’s Kingdom. On the first mile, you can stand on your own; you are doing what any good person would do. Your reward is the applause of people and the satisfaction of a job well done. You see what you could accomplish – but nothing more. On the Second Mile people see Christ in you. You demonstrate that you are more than a good person; you are a child of God. As a result people see something different in you, the love of God. The difference is the world sees us on the first mile. And they see Christ on the second mile.
Gal 6:9, 10 “and let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Let’s do whatever we can to touch someone‘s life. As children of God we can’t sit back and do nothing because we can’t do everything. We must do whatever we can to help, even if it’s a little; God will honor you for your faithfulness, Paul talks about using every opportunity to be a blessing.
Let’s reach out with compassion and the love of Christ in our hearts to make a difference in the lives of those in need. We are the vessels of honor God is waiting to use for His glory. He is counting on you!

May the Lord of the harvest bless you richly.
Yours in Christ until they all have heard.
